Hello dear readers,

I would like to build a house in the second row. The plot is located behind a single-family house, with my private access path being 3 meters (10 feet) wide along the side of the single-family house and extending 43 meters (141 feet) to my plot.

Is the 3-meter (10-foot) access path wide enough for the construction road? What other problems might arise during the construction phase with such a narrow access?

Hello

The maximum width of a motor vehicle, including construction vehicles, is 255 cm (100 inches) in Germany. So you have enough space on both sides. More important is that the construction vehicles can easily access the driveway.

Is this approved? Topic: fire department.

Yes, according to the building authority, I am allowed to build there, everything is fine. However, the access road is quite long. This leads to the next question: whether it makes sense to install a gas line or rather to use a heat pump. I think laying 43 + 4 meters (141 + 13 feet) of gas pipe into the house will definitely be costly.

Hello Cedric

I have a ground source heat pump (brine system) and am very satisfied.

Not just the gas line, electricity, water, and sewage connections are just as “expensive.”
