Hello everyone,

I am currently working on the building permit / planning permission and since I am getting new windows, I would like to order them in gray/anthracite.
Now my construction manager told me that I should expect about a 20% surcharge if I don’t choose standard white PVC window frames but instead go for my preferred color.

Is that still really the case today? Do RAL colors actually cost extra?

I would really appreciate any answers, otherwise I guess I will have to visit the window manufacturer next week.

It’s not just the color that causes the additional cost. Darker frames heat up more, leading to greater material stress. That’s why reputable window manufacturers have to install more reinforcing material—likely metal—in window frames that are intended to be darker. This is what a roller shutter installer explained to me.

Best regards,

That would mean using a different profile version when dark foil is applied – and I don't think that's the case.
