ᐅ Ground Source Heat Pump, Solar Panels, and Fireplace for Heating?

hauntHello everyone,
I am currently looking into heating options for our new house. I have more or less decided on a ground source heat pump.
However, I would definitely like to also use a fireplace. I have already read that this should be possible.
But is it also possible if I place the fireplace in the living room and the heat pump in the utility room?
Everything would then feed into a buffer tank. Could I also integrate solar energy into this system, or would that be too much?
Thanks a lot and best regards,

Hello,
A ground source heat pump combined with photovoltaic solar panels is a sensible combination. If you want a fireplace for the occasional experience of a fire, then choose one with the lowest output without integration into the heating system.
Best regards.

.... But would it work if I place the fireplace in the living room and the pump in the utility room?
haunt schrieb:That is exactly the problem. Ground source heat pumps should ideally be connected directly to the heating circuit without detours via a buffer tank. Using a buffer tank causes efficiency losses.
.... Everything then goes into a buffer tank.
haunt schrieb:Practically, almost anything can be integrated! Whether it actually makes sense in each individual case should be carefully evaluated.
.... Can I also feed solar energy into the system, or would that be too much?

Hello,
Thank you for your response. I plan to discuss with the heating engineer at the beginning of the new year. I like to be better prepared for these kinds of discussions (unlike with my car).
It’s a pity that the combination of a fireplace and a ground-source heat pump is not very efficient. I’ll have to look into the cost of a solar system then. Is that actually photovoltaic, or did I misunderstand and it’s for domestic hot water heating?
Best regards, and have a great start to the new year,

Don’t generalize all tradespeople right away; there are exceptions to the type you described.
Let the user "Haunt" lead the conversation first, post the content here, and then we’ll take it from there….
Kind regards
