Hello,

I am currently building a new house and wanted to ask whether I should go with the standard star wiring or the Unicable system. There are a total of 8 outlets, but only up to 4 will be used at the same time. Only one satellite is to be received.

Hi,
create a star topology using an 8-way multiswitch. The costs are manageable, and it’s also more flexible.

And lay the cables inside the conduit to allow for possible replacement in the future.

Hello Reini1234

Both systems have their pros and cons. Unicable is less expensive to install but is more prone to interference.

Star wiring requires a bit more effort but is the better system for regular use so far, as it is less susceptible to interference. If a fault does occur, it is easier to identify the problem and it is much simpler to find a professional for this type of system.

Not every company offers Unicable.

If building new, go for star wiring!

Where the main TV is located, I would even install a double outlet, so a double socket. That way, you can record and watch different channels at the same time using a twin receiver.

Best regards

For me, only star wiring as well.

The double satellite socket is nice to have, but much more important is the additional double LAN socket by the TV!
