ᐅ Front Door – Which Supplier Would You Recommend?

Hello forum,
I have now read extensively, watched videos, and gathered quotes. Initially, I considered a door from OBI, but the standard size (110cm x 220cm (43 inches x 87 inches)) does not fit. In the end, I have narrowed it down to three suppliers:

1. Köster aluminum front door (only with the "Security Package 2," which adds over 300 euros extra): about 3200
2. Groke aluminum front door (standard RC2): about 2800
3. Hörmann "Thermosafe," currently a promotional front door, all features included, unlike the other two it has an overlapping sash (which I find more attractive, but wouldn’t otherwise pay the 500-euro premium). RC3. Price about 2950
All doors: no sidelights.

I believe I read here in the forum (and elsewhere) that Groke and Köster are good choices. Both doors have a depth of over 9cm (3.5 inches) and seem very solid. I am unsure about the Hörmann (depth 8cm (3 inches)). The Thermosafe is considered upper class, while the Thermocarbon is too expensive for me. Hörmann probably has the best insulation value and the highest security rating. But, as a sales manager told me yesterday: it’s a DIY store door you won’t find in specialist stores – and he dismissed it as cheap quality.

Inotherm, Bayerwald, and similar brands are out of consideration—simply too expensive.
The saying "Your front door is your business card" is useless for me because the whole external appearance doesn’t matter if the person behind the door is forgettable. After a short time (about two minutes), even the most beautiful front door can’t save you if the person makes you want to run away.
I like all the suggested doors. I’m looking for a tasteful door, but I don’t spend 15 minutes daily on a nice day in front of the door with a coffee in my hand admiring the artwork. So aesthetics are not a discussion point for me.
Wood is not an option.

Who here in the forum can share experience to help me with my decision? I would appreciate any tips.

I have no idea how much mine costs :-(
I received an overall quote and didn’t ask for individual item prices.

Dimensions: 230 cm (7 feet 7 inches) wide (the door itself is 115 cm (3 feet 9 inches)) by 230 cm (7 feet 7 inches) high.

My gut feeling is around 3000 euros?

Thank you. I was not familiar with Brandt.

However, the main reason—and I was apparently unclear about this in my first post—for my thread is to ask which of the three providers—Groke, Köster, Hörmann—is definitely recommended or not recommended.

Köster is fine, we almost chose them as well. Our top priority was that the door has a mortise lock, which already narrowed down most options.
The second priority was to have a door that nobody else has. I simply hate those standard doors you see in 95% of new builds.
In the end, we went with a Securidoor wooden front door. It has a scratch-resistant high-pressure laminate (HPL 4 mm (0.16 inches)) coating, and you can be sure no one else has a door like that.
It was also expensive. Otherwise, we would have chosen the Köster door, so I can recommend them. Their doors were double-sided flush-fitting with triple glazing and priced about the same as the Securidoor door (€6000 with side panel).
Ultimately, it’s like everywhere else: if you want to pay as little as possible, you get the corresponding quality. For example, if you pay around 2000 euros for a front door—regardless of the brand—you shouldn’t be surprised if an aluminum door warps and doesn’t close properly (metal and temperature fluctuations…).
That’s why we ultimately chose a wooden door.
By the way, you can also find cheap doors at places like 1001 Tür including clearance sections, where you can get returns very cheaply if you are flexible with the dimensions. They also have bigger brand names in their range.

We have the "hardware store bargain door" from Hörmann and are very satisfied with it so far. Previously, we had a door from Biffar, which was very high quality but also quite expensive. Now we have the Thermosafe from Hörmann; it does everything a door should, doesn’t stick, closes perfectly, and is very easy to clean without streaks. We are also happy with the sound insulation—after one year, there have been no issues.

Best regards,

We will have two front doors in the future: one from Schüco in a country house style and a secondary entrance door from Groke’s Express Aktion series. The door is made of aluminum, certified to RC2 security standard, and costs 2395 €.

Groke also offers a Premium Aktion door, which features flush wings on both sides, for well under 4000 €. Unfortunately, we liked the Schüco country house door so much that we decided against the significantly cheaper Groke door.

What is a flush door?

We also have an externally flush-overlapping door. From the inside, there was a 600 euro net surcharge for a slightly better appearance, but I decided to save on that.

They already complained about the dimensions but still provide a warranty.
4 hinges and 235 cm (7 ft 9 in) high. The side entrance door will be a solid core door.
My wife didn’t like the others, even though it’s clear that a pleated blind is always half-height.
