Hi,

attached is an offer from the local newspaper by a local company. Since I have no way to assess the prices for heating, I would like to ask you if this is generally a good deal or if such prices are common everywhere. Just for an evaluation. Unfair practices and excessive markups are not expected. The company has a good reputation in the small town.

For the boiler alone and the installation work, this is a standard rate for this manufacturer.

Before deciding to purchase, you should have a building services engineer (TGA planner) determine exactly what capacity is needed for your new build—they can also provide insights on the practicality of gas and solar systems. The days when the heating installer just made rough estimates are long gone 😉

Kind regards

Sure, this was just a quick inquiry to get a sense of the prices. Thank you.
I am dealing with an existing house from 1978, which currently runs on the original oil heating system from that year.

Then this offer probably won't be very helpful to you; when renovating, you definitely shouldn’t work on it yourself, as you simply lack the necessary expertise. Find an HVAC engineer and discuss your renovation plans with them. Nowadays, there are good options for air-to-water heat pumps for older properties—this way, you can also eliminate the use of fossil fuels. Many homeowners try to save money in the wrong places and are surprised when their cost-cutting ends up being more expensive in the long run. BECAUSE: only with precise sizing will you avoid creating a money pit, as €uro so aptly puts it 😉

Kind regards

You are being too sensitive! 😉

I already wrote "Sure...". You have to approach the topic step by step.

If this is the biggest of my character flaws, I can live with that very well 😀

I have been doing this job long enough not to be unaware of how expensive inexperienced cost comparisons always become 😉

Good luck
