So, I'm starting a new topic here to avoid overloading the house pictures thread.

I find the sliding doors for ovens quite interesting – but do they really offer any added value? I was also surprised to read that ovens now seem to be adopting a feature I dislike in microwaves: instead of setting temperature and possibly time, you input the "dimensions" of the food?! What is that supposed to achieve?! Personally, I think it’s terrible.

"Assisted Cooking." This is supposed to be convenient, see Thermomix. The user is ideally meant to unlearn cooking or not learn it at all, so they become dependent on this nonsense. Then comes pay-per-use or exclusive recipes from the manufacturer for a fee.

I’m also not a fan of stripping people of all their talent and intelligence. Mindfulness and genuine happiness can quickly disappear that way. Everything becomes just a rush, focused solely on speed and efficiency.

How wonderful it is to bake a cake using organic ingredients from the market, patiently mixing the batter by hand and then baking it in an oven with a manual dial. Checking it several times, poking it, and enjoying the first warm taste as soon as it’s done. Just like at grandma’s.

P.S. Still, high-quality kitchen tools absolutely have their place, including a Thermomix or a KitchenAid.

What you find so nice! Kneading organic dough. Can you also knit? I’m more into winterizing lawnmowers, with an oil change and Caramba in the combustion chamber. Just finished, that was enjoyable. K.

And I know people around me who don’t want to learn cooking but still want to eat homemade food. The health-conscious non-cook is certainly a questionable mindset, but each person’s will is their own kingdom. They buy the Thermomix. I have one too. I use it as an ice cream maker, dough kneader, cocktail mixer, risotto stirrer, semolina grinder, coffee maker for gatherings, etc. All without a recipe. And sometimes I use the recipe function when I find something interesting. In the end, the appliance is often in use—even though I definitely can cook and also enjoy doing it without the device. It’s often about time management, especially when several dishes need to be prepared simultaneously for buffets according to my schedule.

But I can already see that such an extreme usage pattern as mine may make certain features useful that wouldn’t be under normal circumstances.

My lawnmower is battery-powered, preferably a robotic one. Also, I couldn’t care less about football. So organic dough is fine by me, and the Thermomix even more so.

I find cooking really annoying. If I could, I would hire a cook. Honestly, even before hiring cleaning help.
However, a Thermomix is definitely not coming into my home.
I’ve grown to love the steam cooker, though—just put the potatoes in and that’s it. They turn out so tasty, I only need a bit of butter and salt. Or raclette cheese.

Otherwise, as I’ve mentioned before, I’m a supporter of Miele appliances, although the refrigerator doesn’t have to be from them. So far, I don’t like the interior layout of their fridges.
