So, I'm starting a new topic here to avoid overloading the house pictures thread.
I find the sliding doors for ovens quite interesting – but do they really offer any added value? I was also surprised to read that ovens now seem to be adopting a feature I dislike in microwaves: instead of setting temperature and possibly time, you input the "dimensions" of the food?! What is that supposed to achieve?! Personally, I think it’s terrible.

Since my wife is still working and I am only working part-time at 50% while approaching retirement, I spend quite a bit of time at the stove and so on. I can cook a little—not much, but enough. When it comes to the stove, I find induction much better than the ceramic cooktop we had before. The touch controls on our IKEA cooktop are okay, but nothing to write home about. As for the oven, the main thing is that it’s waist-high. Wiping it clean occasionally is no big deal, so I don’t need a self-cleaning function. Controls with rotary knobs were a must. I refused the one with the display at IKEA, even though it had more features. It only needs to do what I can do, which isn’t much. The fridge just needs to cool; there’s no point overthinking it. They all have Danfoss compressors that last about 10 years, and whether it’s Amica or Liebherr doesn’t matter.
The extractor hood only cost us around 150, is noisy, but has a light, which is important so you can see better while stirring. Otherwise, when cooking, just open a window. A dishwasher with an auto program is great—I don’t need more programs than that. It’s important that salt and rinse aid are easy to refill, which is the case with the IKEA model. We’ll see how long it lasts. Our previous Siemens lasted well over 10 years.
Our friend from his store delivered our washing machine and dryer—both Bosch, very intuitive to operate, and together they cost around 1000. What can I say? They do what they’re supposed to: wash and dry. Although I set up a clothesline in the garden, which is still the best. I believe household appliances should first and foremost master the tasks they are designed for; extras and special programs are unnecessary. They just cost money and require fragile software. K.

Do you know what annoys me about every household appliance?
Something is always beeping somewhere. My favorite for the last 3 weeks: the new refrigerator. The door closes extremely hard, and to bypass the door damper, the door has to be slammed REALLY hard. If it then stays open too long (which is basically ALWAYS the case for me), it starts complaining after about a minute.

...no, the meatloaf will then carry the corresponding QR code, which will be scanned by the oven. Cool idea!

But please don’t ask me how much it cost... my wife is in charge of the kitchen.
It does what it’s supposed to do... whether it’s better than Neff, Bosch, or others, I doubt it.
The baked goods definitely turn out great.

Do your ovens have pyrolytic self-cleaning?Fummelbrett schrieb:
I have to admit I don't have any problems cleaning my oven; I just wipe it down and occasionally use an oven cleaner. No, no pyrolytic cleaning... I do it the same way as you.

But I cook whole birds on the baking tray, wings on the rack, spare ribs under the oven grill, and so on.In the future, that will be done on our great gas grill (not a Weber).

We don’t have pyrolytic cleaning. The oven is mine, so I keep it clean. I’ve never missed pyrolysis. Anything that can make a mess goes on the gas grill. That’s where it’s allowed to get messy. And even there, it’s not too bad.haydee schrieb:
With pure online shopping, you miss out on the experience and the social interactions that come with it.Exactly! And you know what? The Edeka in the neighboring village has someone at the cheese counter, and at our local Edeka there’s someone at the butcher counter—they do it just like in the commercials. I could laugh every time at the lines they come up with.

This is supposed to happen in our great gas grill (not a Weber grill) in the future That makes sense. But with my small model, it can’t handle the amount my oven can. Definitely not a goose or a turkey. Also, I prefer the precise temperature control of the automatic settings. With the grill, I’d have to adjust and check continuously.
And honestly, how do you clean the grill? After using it, you turn it up to the maximum heat until there’s no more smoke, and then brush it out with a steel brush. Basically, pyrolysis...
