Hello everyone,

I would quickly need your assessment on whether the price is reasonable.

The kitchen, including stove, microwave, oven, dishwasher, and sink, is supposed to cost €11,850.

What is not included are the refrigerator, backsplash, and faucet.

Lowest online prices for the appliances compared to the kitchen studio:
- Stove €1,800. Studio price €2,050 including installation = okay
- Dishwasher €560. Studio price €565 including installation = okay
- Oven + microwave €1,120. Studio price €1,200 including installation
- Sink studio price estimated €500-600, since it is a ceramic sink

Total cost for appliances = €4,320-4,420 without refrigerator, backsplash, and faucet.

So my problem is not the electrical appliances.

Therefore, the pure kitchen furniture is supposed to cost about €7,600.

- Brand: Bauformat
- High-gloss lacquered fronts
- Worktop laminate with thick edging
- The island is 2.50 m x 1 m (8.2 ft x 3.3 ft)
- The kitchen run is 3.20 m (10.5 ft)
- High cabinet 1 m x 46 cm (3.3 ft x 18 in)

Attached are the pictures. Are the €7,600 for the kitchen furniture justified?

It’s a small kitchen studio with very good advice.

Modern kitchen: island with cooktop, dark countertop, beige cabinets, window on the right.

Modern kitchen: stainless steel refrigerator on the left, sink in the middle, oven/microwave on the right.

Modern kitchen with island, white cabinets, dark countertop, oven and refrigerator.

But I see so many YouTubers revealing their prices and getting so much more kitchen for the money.

The price seems reasonable. However, for me, it’s too expensive because the design isn’t good. I strongly recommend reconsidering it. In my opinion, it looks outdated (early 2000s would fit, I might even go back to the 1990s) and, above all, impractical. There is hardly any continuous countertop space, the island is positioned awkwardly in the room, and overall it doesn’t feel harmonious.

Buy the item, but listen to your wife and make it $5,000 cheaper. smile

I find the side-by-side refrigerator much too dominant. The kitchen isn’t really designed for it. On the other hand, that single tall cabinet stands out all by itself.

Personally, I only like tall cabinets in pairs or groups of three. I would have expected more of an L-shape for your layout, and an island measuring 1.80 x 0.90 meters (6 x 3 feet) is also a nice size.

You’re planning a basement, right?

But where will you store glasses and everyday dishes? Dishes in drawers can be quite heavy and difficult to open, especially if they are 80 centimeters (31.5 inches) wide... and bending over every time to reach for a water glass can also get annoying...

I can also see an L-shape, but definitely not with a 1.80m (5 ft 11 in) island. That simply won’t fit in terms of space, including the L-shape. You know the floor plan of the house is fixed. Yes, there is a basement. The highboard is intended for plates and glasses, placed close to the dining table and counter.

Without the island, the kitchen is too small.

@Nordlys you are right...

What speaks against a U-shape? And a larger island at the end. Is there a floor plan?

What speaks against the U-shape is the stair wall that is only 2m (6.5 feet) wide and the passage with the chimney / three-sided fireplace extending into the kitchen.

Ground floor plan: entrance, kitchen, dining, living room, terrace, garden area, carport.
