Hello, we are currently in the process of choosing tiles. We have already decided on the tile itself, but we are still unsure about the size. :-(

Could you please share photos of tiles that are as gray as possible and include the dimensions?

Preferably for the entrance area or hallway.

Thank you in advance.

And once again, very important when laying tiles continuously in the hallway, open kitchen, and living area… create a tile layout plan.

The key challenge is always the hallway, especially with large tiles. It can be helpful to accurately draw the tile grid to scale on a transparent sheet of paper and then overlay it on the floor plan, also to scale, moving it back and forth. This way, you can see how to avoid many unnecessarily narrow cuts and how to create visually pleasing continuous lines into the adjoining rooms.

Often, you will conclude that you basically divide the hallway lengthwise and lay tiles from this line outwards to both sides.

Hello,
We have the same tile throughout the entire ground floor in 60x60cm (24x24 inches).

This includes the small guest bathroom, the hallway, and the stairs.

It looks absolutely great.

But it is important that the tiles are always installed in a continuous alignment, even at the transitions between rooms and the stairs.

Even in our small bathroom, the tiles look good, even though we only have 2.5 tiles in width and 3 plus 2 half tiles in length.

I would have found it unattractive to change the tile size.

Best regards,
Birgit

@bibi80 thank you very much for the pictures. The transition has been adjusted very well. I think I would have chosen slightly lighter joints, so the pattern wouldn't be as visible. Are the joints 2 or 3 mm (0.08 or 0.12 inches)?

The joints are approximately 2mm (0.08 inches).

The tiles are planned for the entrance area, which is 3 x 3 meters (10 x 10 feet),
in the hallway 1.2 m (4 feet) wide and 6 meters (20 feet) long,
and for 2 bathrooms, 5 and 12 m² (54 and 130 sq ft),
and the kitchen around 10 m² (108 sq ft) – which opens into the living room.

I’m not sure if I like the square shape, 60 x 60 cm (24 x 24 inches). Also, I want the narrow hallway to look wider!

That is my biggest problem—the 1.2 m (4 feet) hallway.

Then just take a look at other tiles. With 1,000 different models available, there are definitely great alternatives.
For the hallway, 120 x 60 cm (48 x 24 inches) tiles would work really well, I can imagine that perfectly. And for the rest, for example, 60 x 60 cm (24 x 24 inches) tiles, if 120 x 60 cm (48 x 24 inches) tiles are too expensive.

You can also lay the 60 x 60 cm (24 x 24 inches) tiles rotated 90 degrees,
The most important thing is that you like the tiles.

How do you lay square tiles rotated 90 degrees?
