Hello,

It would be really great if everyone here could just post one or a few pictures showing the current state of their house.

I'll start right away.

For renovations, it’s best to provide a comparison of before and after the remodeling.

Before March 2014:

After May 2015:

But is it also "grippy"? I don't really like it when the metal cuts into the flesh.

When gripping lightly under normal conditions, no, maybe if you fall? ;-(

While we’re on the topic of stairs:

Here is our staircase after completion.

Type:
Concrete staircase built by the local mason, with a granite finish sourced from the natural stone factory.

Two photos were taken in daylight, and one photo was taken in the evening with stair lighting.

Modern indoor staircase with gray steps against a white wall; wooden dresser with blue cushions.

View from above of a modern gray indoor staircase; window on the left with a plant on the windowsill.

Gray indoor steps with a wooden bench and gray cushion along the wall.

What I like is that the baseboard on the wall side is plastered flush. I think that’s great! Just out of curiosity, how is that done?

The plasterer applied plaster up to about 20mm (3/4 inch) below the finished top (FT) of the concrete stair treads and left the rest exposed.

We used this approach throughout the house wherever tiling was done (in the bathrooms, utility room, and pantry).

First, the tiling was completed, then the plaster was applied ("troweled on"), followed by a final finish coat. Of course, the floor coverings and stairs were carefully masked off each time.

All done by ourselves.

I hadn’t noticed that at all, but I like it too. Sometimes something looks good simply because there’s no mistake.
