Hello,

It would be really great if everyone here could just post one or a few pictures showing the current state of their house.

I'll start right away.

For renovations, it’s best to provide a comparison of before and after the remodeling.

Before March 2014:

After May 2015:

This week the scaffolding will be removed, and starting Monday the painters will begin with smooth fleece wallpaper

A cool staircase! Hopefully, ours will look just like that! We decided on full-height glass balustrades plus a wooden handrail on the other side.

Is it a concrete staircase with a wood finish on top, or a prefabricated staircase?

Although the stringers are round and steeper (half-turn staircase), they also serve as a "climbing aid." We don't have children yet, but if we do and climbing turns out to be interesting for them, we would probably add something (wooden?) in front for that period. Compared to the overall lifespan of the staircase, that would likely be only a relatively short time.

We do not have a stair railing or any stair safety gates. Everyone has to figure out for themselves where their children might become little acrobats.

All of our electrical outlets are equipped with built-in enhanced contact protection. This eliminates the need for the annoying safety covers commonly used for babies.

How much does your railing cost per meter?

I can’t tell you that, unfortunately, as it’s part of the entire staircase. The whole thing costs about 4500 EUR.

It’s a wooden stringer staircase with the steps attached on top.

What type of wood is this, and what kind of stain or finish has been used?
