Hello,

our tile supplier asked us whether we prefer ready-made baseboards or if we would rather order a few extra tiles and have the tiler cut the baseboards themselves.

We were a bit unsure and didn’t really know what to decide, especially since there was no sample piece available.
The tiles are 20x120 cm (8x48 inches) with a wood look.

Advantage of ready-made baseboards: rounded edges with wood appearance.
Disadvantage: somewhat more expensive.

With cut baseboards, the tile edge would be visible, but this hardly stands out (similar color tone).

What do you think? Would you regret giving up the rounded edges?

If cut by the tiler, I would have it plastered flush. Of course, this is not possible with drywall partitions, so the interior plasterer needs to come twice.

I would go for the rounded variant; it costs a bit more but is worth it. The cut edge from the tile cutter is very, very sharp and can sometimes fray slightly depending on the tile.

Hello!

Our tiler will cut the baseboards from the tiles. In our current apartment, we also have cut baseboards, and I noticed that more dust tends to accumulate there. However, it would be the same with rounded edges, just maybe a little less.
The finished baseboards are somewhat more expensive for us.
Sharp edges? I haven’t noticed any... I need to check again today.

The edges of the sample tile were not sharp. The cut edge would then be placed on the floor. From one tile, he would cut two strips.

On the room sides where the long side of the tile is installed; but not on the sides where the narrow side (the 20cm (8 inches) side) is installed; that would result in 110cm (43 inches) of waste....

You would likely still install a 120cm (47 inches) baseboard where the short edge is placed. This means one baseboard would cover 6 floorboards/tiles.
