We had to orient our garage to the south and have now learned that dark colors might cause issues here.

That is definitely less than ideal.
Our door is planned to be installed with M-ribs and in CH703 color later on. Although we have a roof overhang of 75cm (30 inches) above the garage on the south side, I really didn’t want to have the door painted silver afterward...
That simply wouldn’t match the rest of the house at all...

In my view, it is important to ensure that the sections are not too large and that each section is reinforced with a profile. The user in the aforementioned forum did not take either of these points into account.
With three manufacturers, I was only able to get stiffening profiles installed after specifically requesting them. Even Hörmann and Novoferm only offered this upon my explicit request.
Other manufacturers, who do not rely as much on their brand name, do this automatically for door widths of around 5.6m (18 feet), regardless of the color choice.
