Hello,

Our house dates back to 1962, and the garage roof expands slightly due to heat from the sun in summer. This causes cracks in the walls and prevents us from plastering the walls.

I want to protect the roof from the heat (sun) and am looking for ideas.

Currently, I am considering two options: either protecting it with gravel or, more complex and expensive, with a green roof for the garage.

Does anyone have other ideas or experience with these two options?

At the moment, the roof is sealed with roofing felt.

Thank you very much

No matter what you do, do you have a structural calculation for the garage? You don’t want the roof to collapse...
We will be installing an extensive green roof, using sedum and a few grasses, and have a reinforced concrete slab...

Even with our green-roof garage featuring a wooden beam ceiling, the structure and slope (4%) have been reinforced.

Insulation without heating causes condensation.

May I ask about the material thicknesses?

Beams are 28cm (11 inches) high x 10cm (4 inches) wide, plus additional sloping layers on top, for a size of 9 x 6 meters (30 x 20 feet).
The beams were also spaced closer together.

Are you doing it yourselves or hiring someone? Due to our development plan, our garage must also have green roofing. It looked so easy on YouTube. But the garage supplier charges 800-900 € for a single garage.
