ᐅ Moisture in Living Area Flooring / Seeking Temporary Solution

Hello community,

This concerns an old house with damp soil in the living area. The house was built in the 1960s, has no basement, and has a concrete slab floor. The issue becomes noticeable through damp spots in the carpet, which of course also causes an unpleasant odor.

Since there is currently no budget for a complete renovation of the floor, I am looking for a solution for the next two years.

What can I do with the floor to prevent moisture from entering the living space? Which type of flooring is advisable after treating the floor?

Thank you in advance.

if it seeps through the slab and the carpet is already damp, I wouldn’t want to live in that. Mold?

It’s nice to hear a personal opinion, but I’m more interested in advice on how to proceed.
I can only comment on mold once I have removed the carpet. However, I already suspect there is mold underneath the carpet.

As harsh as it sounds, unfortunately, this kind of nonsense can’t really be taken seriously. The only option is to find the cause of the damage; waiting another 1-2 years is not an option.

The building structure will not improve by "hiding" the problem.

I’m sorry for asking for support here in this forum.
So far, I have mostly received personal insults.
Sorry for taking up your time.
But I thought this was an expert forum.

Maybe one of the experts who replied to me can quickly let me know how I can unsubscribe from this forum as soon as possible. Even if some might see it as “nonsense” 🙂 🙂
