Hello everyone,

has anyone here already had experience with these venetian blinds? They are currently being offered by all the common brands. How much do they actually darken the room? I understand they can’t compete with roller shutters, but do they provide significantly better darkening than regular slatted blinds?

Yes, of course. They almost completely block out the light. However, they are extremely expensive!

Have you installed them yourself and can provide some figures? If yes, which brand/version? We were quoted an extra 600€ for the whole house. If we go for them, we would only install them upstairs, so that would be an additional cost of about 300€.

Well, I wouldn’t hesitate over a few euros.
We have standard venetian blinds; they don’t make the rooms completely dark, which is a bit inconvenient, especially in the kids' rooms. Still, even if they only darken the room slightly, it’s money well spent.

We will definitely go with those unless someone here says they are complete rubbish. 🙂

I don’t need the room to be pitch dark since I’m an early riser anyway and my wife can sleep anywhere, but especially for the children’s bedrooms, I would prefer a bit more darkness. For aesthetic reasons, blinds are simply not an option for us.

Have a look at these things in person. They were shown to us as well, but they were clearly too expensive. The additional cost per window was 300 euros compared to blinds. That would have been about 6,000 euros. It wasn’t worth it for us.
