Hello everyone,
Is this normal?
We have already requested an appointment twice from one company and received no response both times (so that company is no longer an option).
Then we got a rather short-notice appointment with another company (last Friday). The conversation went really well, and we actually have a good feeling. We were promised to receive an initial (preliminary) design by email by Tuesday. But as of today (Thursday), we haven’t heard anything. When I asked by email when we could expect the design, I was told that we haven’t been forgotten and they hope to prepare the design over the weekend.
What do you think? Somehow, I’m not feeling as confident anymore... What if we actually award this company the contract and then run into problems during construction? Will we have to wait a long time for someone to address issues?
Maybe you can help me out.
Thanks in advance and best regards,
Anja

Hello,
I would see it the other way around. If my construction company can’t even meet deadlines when providing a quote, how will it be during the actual building phase? Delays can of course happen for any reason. But a call from the supplier is enough, and no one will be upset with them. As the client, I shouldn’t have to keep calling them repeatedly...
Best regards

Many things go wrong during construction. If a two-day delay in receiving a quote already upsets you, then maybe you should reconsider whether you want to put yourself through the stress of building.

It’s not about having to follow up repeatedly by phone; as a customer, you should be able to expect to receive a quote. That’s also what my customers expect at the car dealership. What’s different is the attitude of some customers who think that just because they are paying for a house build, car purchase, etc., they have the salesperson exclusively booked for themselves. You need to take a more relaxed approach to this. Some things simply take more time. A quote should also be meaningful and carry a certain level of commitment!
This requires time and cannot be done hastily. The company is likely not preparing a quote for just one customer. But of course, there will always be companies that don’t even bother to respond to inquiries. That can be quite frustrating when you wait forever and don’t hear anything at all.
However, judging the build quality based on a quote not being provided as promised is a bit of a stretch.

Everyone knows that a salesperson at any company, regardless of the industry, is not there for just one customer. However, as much as I hate to say it, a good salesperson can at least make a customer feel like they are the only and most important client.

Then the salesperson shouldn’t be giving deadlines they can’t keep anyway. And if preparing the offer is delayed, they should handle it like Detective Rockford: one phone call is enough 😉

But judging the build quality because an offer was not provided as promised is a bit far-fetched. Nope
