Hi everyone!

My wife isn’t really fond of those typical textured wallpapers on the ceiling.

What other options are there?
Would it be feasible to do these as a DIY project?
What additional costs should we expect?

Thanks in advance!

Well, apply putty smoothly and then paint.

That sounds very, very exhausting and like a case of tendinitis!
But we would like it...

Having the ceiling welded is the best option, but you can also have it plastered. I wouldn’t recommend wallpaper; I don’t know anyone who still does that (south).

Sorry, I just googled it but couldn’t find anything about welding a ceiling, what is that?

The general contractor would also do the plastering, but it costs more and he advised against it for some reason... (too complicated/expensive?)

The classic alternative to textured wallpaper is filler, painter’s fleece, and wall paint.
If you apply filler well, you can skip the fleece. Our ceiling became smooth and seamless without it as well.
