Dear forum members,
for our building project, we planned for accessibility and therefore specifically included aluminum thresholds for the balcony doors. Now the floor installer left a large gap between the threshold and the floor (see photo) and claims this is within the tolerance range. Do you have any ideas which DIN standard we can refer to in order to contest this? Unfortunately, our architect is not supporting us.

Maßband misst Bodenabstand an der Bodenleiste im Innenraum.

Alumat thresholds were planned separately for the balcony doors.

What does the plan for the floor-to-ceiling balcony doors say about the floor structure and its individual layers (screed, insulation, adhesive, tiles)?

One could also argue that the balcony doors are installed too high. Who planned this and who (did not) supervise it?

Here are two brochures from Allumat for the magnetic thresholds. This gives you a rough idea of what they are supposed to look like. Otherwise, you can contact Allumat directly. The contractors need to work according to Allumat’s recommendations and not confuse these with other types of thresholds.
How wide is the door opening, and what was the cost? It was too expensive for us, so it is not included in our plan.
The files are too large; you can give me your email address, and I can send them to you.

First of all, it needs to be clarified whether this is the responsibility of the floor installer. How could they possibly make up nearly 1cm (0.4 inches)? It seems that something is not quite right with the entire floor structure or the installation height of the door. Judging by the picture, if we assume it is parquet or laminate, the floor build-up would have to be almost twice as thick to fit properly.

The floor came after the door, and as luck would have it, the floor at the first door (serving 10 units) was almost flush. Our architect assumed as a matter of course that all others would look the same. Since the floor installer took over the work in this condition, it was my understanding that he should have raised concerns and then either the screed installer or he himself should have carried out the necessary corrections.

Hello Zizzi,
I have the documents from Allumat and have also contacted their support. Unfortunately, the description does not specify a measurement between the threshold and the opening frame; it just appears flush.
