Hello,
could you please upload the pictures in a larger size? By the way, the terrace direction is only partly related to the ridge orientation.
Best regards
Michael

hemali200330 May 2018 23:32We have a west-facing orientation, and I think it’s perfect! The kitchen and dining room windows face south, providing plenty of light during the day. The living room and terrace face west, which is beautiful in the evening! The living room also gets plenty of light during the day. In my opinion, it doesn’t need to be too much, otherwise you have to keep everything closed during the peak of summer.
What I like best is the entrance on the east side – it really lifts your mood when you step outside in the morning and the sun is already shining on your face.

Ok, thanks everyone.
The decision is quite difficult because we have a north-facing plot that is accessed via a long driveway in the southwest corner. The easiest option is an east-facing orientation, but then the terrace would lose direct sunlight around 2 p.m.
The best view is to the north, where there is a row of houses in front, and then nothing for several kilometers.
I have attached a photo. Ours is number 27, and the photo is oriented to true north.
Plot without driveway is approximately 27 m x 27 m (89 ft x 89 ft).

Right now, I would give almost anything for a north-facing terrace. With the heat in this country and no rain from above, you really long for some shade.
East would be nice too. Since you can’t rely on the weather here anymore, I tend to favor multiple partial-use terraces. I think it’s important to have enough daylight in the dining and living area. But a room with west-facing windows can still have a north terrace, while a room with south-facing windows could have an east, south, or west terrace, and so on.
Without a sketch showing the room layout, it’s impossible to decide.
