Our mid-terrace house will be finished at the end of May. We are currently looking for a tiler.

Our question is, can the basement floor be tiled immediately despite the moisture?

I have heard that the basement walls should only be painted after 1-2 years because the house has moisture and also brings moisture when moving in.

What about the floor tiles in the basement?

Why should it be different in the basement than on the ground floor or upper floors? Naturally, you should always allow any moisture the chance to escape before trapping it inside.

So, the ground floor, first floor, and attic will be tiled by the builder. But we are unsure about the basement. What do you recommend? What did you do? What have your experiences been?

If the moisture level in the screed is below a certain value x, you can proceed with tiling.

Can someone determine the value X and suggest a simple and cost-effective way to measure it?
