Hello,

It would be really great if everyone here could just post one or a few pictures showing the current state of their house.

I'll start right away.

For renovations, it’s best to provide a comparison of before and after the remodeling.

After May 2015:

That’s correct. In the end, it will be cut flush with the surface and then a valve will be installed on top.
We had already suspected that [emoji4]

I have been a silent reader of the house building forum for quite some time and have already learned a lot by observing others. After a longer preparation and planning phase, during which not everything went smoothly and we even changed architects at one point, we finally got started.

At the beginning of February, the long wait finally ended and there was the first visible progress at the construction site. The surveyor set the stakes on the building plot.

Then, a week ago, the earthworks finally began. The topsoil was removed.

At the end of the day, the construction fence was installed.

Over the weekend, the site was covered in snow.

This week, work continued and the excavation for the basement was completed. Here is the result after day 4.

The rest of the week was used by the structural contractor to install the sewage shaft and set up the temporary power supply box.

Meanwhile, the temporary power supply box has been connected and the surveyor set up the batter boards.

Next week, the structural work is scheduled to begin. We are now going on vacation for one week and are curious to see what progress will have been made at the site by the time we return.

So you are building the house now with the recessed gable roof?

Oh, a whole week off during such an exciting phase ... will that cause sleepless nights ... – who will take photos of the progress in the meantime?

So, the interior plastering has now been completed. Next week, the ventilation ducts and underfloor heating will be installed.

However, we're concerned about the hole for the electrical cable to the garage, since this spot will later be underground. Won't that create a potential leak? We’re a bit worried that it might cause a damp living room wall [emoji848]

A lot has happened again.

Hi,

If that spot really ends up underground, that is... suboptimal. The electrician wanted to do the same at my place and is still upset today that I didn’t accept it.

Penetrations should either be well above the final ground level or more than 50cm (20 inches) below it, and properly sealed with a Doymer seal or similar. Anything in between is a poor solution and will cause you problems!
