Hello, I have purchased a nice plot of land (700m2 (7,535 sq ft)) and now want to build a house. I have already looked through the typical websites of construction companies, but there don’t seem to be many truly new ideas. Does anyone know of a kind of directory or gallery with a wide variety of houses? It shouldn’t be too unusual – just a nice, normal house – but with smart features and real eye-catching qualities! Thanks and best regards

Is it a loft for a single person with a billiard and poker room and a pool on the ground floor, a family with three children, or a couple living with a grandmother in a granny flat?
When you look at prefab home providers, you always end up with similar designs, depending on the floor area and type of staircase. I would rather check out architects’ websites, as they often offer more unique options beyond the standard models. Additionally, there are many high-end architectural magazines available at well-stocked bookstores.

No, seriously. When you look inside some houses, you get ideas that usually can’t be implemented as shown in the houses in the articles due to space limitations, but they can still serve as a useful reference. Prefabricated home exhibitions might be worth visiting as well, since you can see and touch the houses, and often they don’t use the standard floor plans or features, making everything a bit more appealing.

What does the zoning plan / building permit actually say?

The area is very old and there is no formal building plan or zoning regulation. We are only supposed to consider the neighbors to some extent. Unfortunately, only one full story is allowed. A gable roof would generally be a good choice. I am looking in this direction but not for the completely standard design.
