Hello, we are currently planning our bungalow.
It won’t be very large, about 140 sqm (1500 sq ft), with two small children soon.
Now I’m wondering how big the children’s rooms should be.
I’m worried they might be too small when the kids grow up. Or do they hardly spend time there anyway?
The children’s rooms are planned to be 13 sqm (140 sq ft) each.
The parents’ bedroom is 15 sqm (160 sq ft) with a walk-in closet.
The complete floor plan will be shared once everything is fully planned, and then you can take it apart and review it.
Good luck!

However, I believe that a child’s room, which should be functional until the age of 18/19/20 or even 25, should ideally have at least 15m² (162ft²), preferably 20m² (215ft²), if possible. That doesn’t mean you can’t be happy in 12m² (130ft²).

Well, 240m2 (2583 ft²) and then only 17m2 (183 ft²)? At least are there 5 rooms?blaupuma schrieb:
Hi Phil
240m2 (2583 ft²) of living space in a new build—that's generous [emoji4][emoji106] How many people are you?
It's interesting how differently houses are built in terms of size.
For us, 140m2 (1507 ft²) is ideal.
We are thinking about old age as well, and then we will be just two again. That's why everything will be single-level and age-appropriate.I have to say, including the granny flat (for longer visits from my mother-in-law), it’s actually over 300m2 (3229 ft²) plus 70m2 (753 ft²) basement plus garage. Currently, there are three of us, but another child is planned. Let’s say it’s spacious, but not as big as it seems. Obviously, it can be smaller, but it’s often nice to have a few extra square meters here and there. Admittedly, we have above-average circulation areas because other things were more important to us than a few square meters more or less. Otherwise:
40m2 (430 ft²) dining room/kitchen
35m2 (377 ft²) living room
35m2 (377 ft²) children’s room
30m2 (323 ft²) man cave
25m2 (269 ft²) master bedroom
2 bathrooms without toilets
2 separate toilets
Sure, it’s generous, but not excessive...

Men's Room It used to be called a gentleman's room. Is that what it’s intended for? Is the floor plan available in the forum?

A 35 sqm (375 sq ft) kids’ room?!?! 2 kids’ rooms = 35 sqm (375 sq ft)... Sorry, I combined them.

Maybe not exactly like in the old movies, where the focus is on alcohol and cigarettes, but more like a home theater corner, some fitness equipment, etc. My wife doesn’t want to hear about it.

Phil, do you have any pictures of your house? Unfortunately, pictures and plans of the house are not available here. On one hand, the house is not finished yet. On the other hand, we’re also talking about salaries, equity, and loans, and I prefer not to have any conclusions drawn about me personally from that.
