Hello everyone,

We just recently got connected through Telekom for internet and landline. I hadn’t really thought about TV yet. I called, and they said that with my 16,000 kbps line (16 Mbps), TV wouldn’t be possible because internet and phone are already running on it, and the bandwidth left for TV would be too low.

Technically, it might be possible, but with my connection, watching TV wouldn’t be enjoyable if someone is using the Wi-Fi at the same time. Is that correct?

Does this mean I can’t get a TV connection except via satellite? Would that require reopening everything again? We’re about to move in, and everything is finished.

It’s also frustrating that in our town only Telekom and Vodafone are available. I think there might be 1&1 as well, but I’m not entirely sure.

We don’t watch much TV, but sometimes we do...

Damn...

Install a satellite system. Although it requires an initial investment, it eliminates monthly fees, making it more cost-effective in the long run. Additionally, you are not dependent on the provider’s goodwill to receive specific channels.

To what extent it is possible for you to install this later without causing much mess cannot be determined remotely. In extreme cases, the cables could be routed through narrow cable ducts along a corner, and then installed inside the walls during the next renovation.

Monthly costs will eventually become due in the future, so this is only partially correct.

You might want to look into SAT over IP, @Sauerpetee

then use a 50mm (2 inch)...

but I agree with the pink giant on this. HD is not the right choice there.....................

Why? Do you have more detailed information on this, or is it just a gut feeling (which doesn’t have to be a bad thing)?

In brief:

- Telekom Entertain with “only” 16,000 ADSL -> forget it. Practical from VDSL 25 (25 Mbps) onwards.
- Monthly costs for T-Entertain: starting from the first month, 5 euros per receiving point plus another 5 euros per receiver rental (alternatively about 250 euros to buy).
- If satellite cabling to the rooms is no longer possible, but CAT6/7 cable is available up to the TV, then SAT over IP is a useful alternative. Satellite dish on the roof, feed into the LAN in the attic or utility room. One SAT over IP receiver per TV.
