ᐅ Three years since completion – still haven’t found a ceiling light for the kitchen!

We’re probably a bit crazy. We can’t find a ceiling light that both of us like for the kitchen. But all the options out there are just terrible. We definitely don’t want those damn LEDs. So that rules out 50% of the lights right away.
Then we need a lot of light, at least 3000 lumens. We both have poor eyesight. That cuts out another 30% because these days lights don’t seem to be meant for actual illumination anymore.
That leaves only 20% that we simply don’t like or that are too expensive (over 500€). It’s so frustrating. Does anyone know a lighting store that doesn’t just sell the usual generic stuff but offers something different?
Feel free to share pictures of the lights you have, if you want. Maybe we’ll like some of those too. 🙁

I would probably have a problem with that. We sometimes walk naked through the living room. I would feel uncomfortable if the neighbors waved.Same here [emoji2] and many floor-to-ceiling windows [emoji28]
Our hedge around the property is already almost completely opaque. You should only be able to see something if you stand right by the hedge and stare. In 2 years, we’ll be able to be naked in the garden [emoji12][emoji85]

The never-ending story:
After 3 years, out of desperation, we finally ordered some random basic lamp for the kitchen. It was labeled as suitable for LED bulbs, which was important to us so we could use LED bulbs with proper lumen output for the specified wattage. So, we ordered LED bulbs with decent power. The bulb size was about 8cm (3 inches) in diameter. The lamp arrived yesterday.
Guess what? Yes, the darn bulbs don’t fit the lamp. The lamp is much flatter.
So yesterday, I started looking for flatter LED bulbs. I found some—so-called corn cob LEDs on Amazon.
If you want 2000–3000 lumens nowadays, you basically have to study lighting technology. When will retailers and manufacturers finally be forced to consistently list lumens instead of watts? It’s a mess. 🤨
