For a bungalow, where is the best place to install the satellite dish? On the exterior wall or on the roof?

Kind regards

At my place, the garage has a back wall. If anything comes up, I use a stepping ladder to reach it.

I installed them on the back wall of the garage because:

It partly depends on the orientation. But generally, I wouldn’t install the satellite dish on the facade, as it simply doesn’t look good.

I would always try to position the satellite dish so that it is as unobtrusive as possible. Often, the best place is on the roof, for example next to a dormer, chimney, or similar. Of course, it’s important to ensure that the dish has a clear line of sight to the satellite.

The argument of "easy access if you need to service it" is secondary in my opinion. If the system is installed properly, you shouldn’t have to touch it for the next 15–20 years.

The chimney sweep objects to the chimney.

The façade has the advantage that it can be installed in an area not susceptible to lightning protection risks, so a lightning current-capable grounding system is not necessary there. On the roof, the situation is completely different.
