ᐅ Nail baseboards in place or use mounting clips?

Originally, we planned to nail the baseboards in place, preferably using a nail gun.

Now everyone is talking about these clip-on baseboards. Until now, we didn’t even know such a system existed. But the only real advantage of the clips seems to be that you don’t see any nails, and you can remove the baseboards without damage and reuse them, right?

And all these clip brackets have to be fixed to the wall with some kind of anchors, which I find quite expensive.

Do you also think this is overrated, or are the clips a genuine “hidden gem”? 🙂

There was something to it.

That still makes me a bit uncertain.
I think I will try fastening the trims only at certain points with the adhesive at first, let’s see.

First, just stick them on with acrylic adhesive. It holds for a while and can be removed much more easily.
We didn’t consider this and immediately used the strong mounting adhesive. Now they are firmly fixed. Karsten

Maybe nothing will settle any further, but you do hear quite a few things.

We won’t have the problem of screed settling since the house is already 22 years old 🙂

Or shouldn’t it be possible to firmly fix such “thick” baseboards (18 mm (0.7 inches)) using a nail gun?

Certainly, but in that case, I would definitely recommend gluing.
