According to our architect, we should only apply the horizontal waterproofing of the foundation slab inside the house.
We have already done this on the ground floor inside the house. However, I am wondering whether we should also do it in the directly adjacent garage?
In the garage, we will have approximately 18cm (7 inches) of screed with a slope on top of 10cm (4 inches).
What are the advantages and disadvantages of using a bituminous membrane (such as Katja or Erika) in the garage, and how have you handled this in your own houses?

8cm (3 inches) slope in the garage? You’d have to tie up the car so it doesn’t roll out of the door.Originally, even a 14cm (6 inches) slope was planned. We have already had that reduced because it seemed very steep to us.
Hmm....
Thanks for your opinions.
So, we will skip the waterproofing membrane there.

Thanks for your opinions. So we will skip the waterproofing membrane there. How deep is your garage? 5m (16 feet)? Then an 8cm (3 inches) slope is only about 1.6%. I would doubt that this is enough to direct water flow properly. My current garage is over 40 years old and has no screed at all, and I can’t see the purpose of it either. But I’m not hosting water fights in there either.
By the way, cars are secured with the handbrake when parked. I thought this method was common practice by now.

Hmm, so would it be better to have no slope at all? Personally, I would even prefer that.
But the architect probably knows better than us.
