Hi Forum,
we are currently busy planning our terrace and are still a bit undecided.
It will have an area of 20m² (215 sq ft) and definitely needs to be covered.
We are now considering what would be best... a frame made of aluminum, powder-coated steel, or wood?
Glass roof or plastic?
The floor will probably be a WPC decking.
Why did you choose your material?
What are the advantages and disadvantages?
How did you ultimately design your terrace?
Maybe you have some pictures to get inspired.
Best regards, David

meister keks30 Aug 2017 15:04That's right, it is just a patio roof.
However, it is not as loud as a roof window because of the type of glass used.
It is 12mm (1/2 inch) laminated safety glass.
When it rains heavily, of course, it can be noisy, but then you would also hear it on a roof.

Are there any first experiences with the warmth under the patio roof and the noise level during rain?
We are also planning to sit outside next year and got a quote over the weekend.I’m bringing this topic up again. We also have a covered area on the south side, but with sliding doors. Our only shading is a sun sail. In the height of summer, around midday, the whole garden on the south side is hardly usable because we don’t have any plants yet. But surprisingly, it’s more comfortable when the front sliding doors are closed, because that creates a chimney effect, preventing hot air from lingering. It feels like a difference of at least 5°C (9°F).
Now we are also building a pergola next to the terrace. The base structure is made from coated aluminum, like our conservatory, so it’s durable. We will let climbing plants grow over it. That should make it very pleasant to be in during summer.
