Hello everyone!

For my planned single-family house, I am looking for a front door manufacturer that installs motorized locks directly from the factory—ideally ones from Fuhr. Since I need to be very budget-conscious, a uPVC door would be best. As some of you have already installed motorized locks, I am hoping to get constructive advice from you because it is quite difficult to find information online.

Best regards,

Enrico

@merlin83 This is quite common here. After three pages, the information value drops to zero, and the "experts" argue about who actually knows better.

It might be more helpful to explain to the original poster the drawback of a mechanical lock so they can weigh whether this seemingly cheaper solution fits their budget better.

@stevenprice: In the end, personal consultation is always essential, no doubt about it.
I mainly wanted to find out about a few manufacturers so that I at least know where to request quotes. Now I know that, and even better, I have a rough idea of the price range.

Going off-topic is actually common with such specific questions, but that didn’t make me any less informed. Personally, the functionality of the Innotherm doors described by @merlin83 would be completely sufficient for me, so thanks again for the tip.

And thanks to everyone else for their answers as well.

Regards,

Enrico

Hello Enrico,

These "roundabout discussions" often create misconceptions — as happened with you now. The method used on our Innotherm door is already the highest quality, so it really should be more than enough.

An inferior version would be a mechanical locking system where the door simply closes by itself into the latch. In that case, the swing bolts are just pushed in and held in place — the door does not pull itself fully closed as it would with a motorized locking system.

....

It is not as securely locked as a motorized lock and does not pull the door completely into the frame.

It also doesn’t sound very pleasant from the outside when opened electronically.

@merlin83

What you describe as inferior meets the safety glass RC3 standard in other locks, simply by "prying"!

The advantage is that there are no moving parts in the lock; where you see the inferiority remains your secret!

I have already understood that Innotherm installs the best locks in the world...
