Hello everyone,

as the question suggests, I find it surprising that IKEA kitchens are quite affordable. How is the workmanship, meaning the quality? And what about the IKEA hinges? Do IKEA kitchens last a long time?

Best regards

IKEA offers quite a few options to outfit a cabinet [emoji38]

I’m not a fan of visible drawers with them— a bit heavy, and they sag [emoji20]

But not with the Maximera drawers? Even the drawer full of plates doesn’t sag for us. They use Blum hinges as well.

No idea. The ones they had 8 years ago.
No, they were completely unusable. I only tolerated them back then because the kitchen was already a mix of old and new. Since then, I’ve become critical of Ikea!

In the current utility room kitchen, there is also quite a bit of wasted space beneath the bottom drawer due to the position of the hinges...

I have a colleague who used to work at Ikea. A couple of years ago he also got a kitchen with wall cabinets... he says: never again! But not because the wall cabinets didn’t work, rather because of the installation in an old building.

This actually works very well now that suspension rails are available!

No, they were not acceptable at all. I only tolerated them back then because the kitchen was a mix of old and new anyway.

That was the old system (Faktum). The Metod drawers are made by Blum (similar to Tandembox Antaro, and the side panels also fit).

Dear Yvonne,
You just have to accept it. We IKEA customers are like a kind of cult, addicted to meatballs with lingonberries, Marabou chocolate, and those small Allen keys. We genuinely believe that the entrance to a blue-and-yellow furniture store is a kind of gateway to paradise. We love the shelves where we load the boxes onto carts; the female members of the cult love the glasses, the straw blankets, the thousand things the world doesn’t really need, while we men find it great that we have access to hundreds of PCs throughout the store—unfortunately, though, they’ve blocked the pages with the busty ladies.
We have a mantra too. Are you still living in your home, or are you truly living?
That’s different from those other slogans like “Höffner TP” or “Rrrroller”… this is philosophy, wisdom for life, yes, there’s a sense of salvation in this phrase… Open until 10 p.m., need to go to Lübeck again, haven’t been there for 14 days now… Karsten

When buying from IKEA, customers expect sturdy, durable, and modern-looking furniture—even for kitchens—and generally, this is what they receive.

If problems arise after purchase or delivery, customers—even those who do not live close to an IKEA store—expect a contact person and prompt advice, assistance, or rectification, for example by phone or email.

I sincerely hope that other customers have had better experiences in this regard than I have. I have spent hours on hold during phone calls and often waited days or even weeks for an email reply. And when trying to respond to that email, the cycle begins again: “We apologize for our current extended processing time of an average of 7 days. We are working hard to respond to your inquiries as quickly as possible. Thank you for your patience and understanding.”
This is unworthy of a large corporation and greatly frustrates me as a customer.

But I still hope I was just unlucky and that things go wonderfully for others.
