I recently heard about Gesundfarbe by Rhenocoll from one of the painters who gave us a quote. Does anyone know about it? I’m quite health-conscious, especially with small children in the house, so I think it could be beneficial in terms of pollutants and such. Thank you very much.

What exactly is unhealthy about a different paint color? A dry, cured paint does nothing to the indoor air quality. Solvents in interior paints are almost always water anyway.

Now the eco groups are talking about walls "breathing." Okay, that’s one way to look at it. If you build like in the 15th century, using only lime mortar and clay plaster, then you have porous walls and need special paints that can handle repeated wetting and drying. But you don’t have a house like that, do you? Your house uses cement, concrete, vapor barriers, sealed windows, and so on.

In that case, breathable paints make no real sense—unless you have extra money and just want to have that “special” feeling. Karsten

Addendum
Just google “sto basic.” It is an interior paint used in thousands of liters annually for larger projects—basic, affordable, white, matte, done. Then check the sustainability datasheet for the paint... what harm could that possibly do to a child!

Thank you for the responses. It seems that mold protection and similar features are also included. Unfortunately, I’m not allowed to post a link here. I was also thinking about the smell, etc. But thanks again.

I doubt that mold protection is healthy [emoji6]

If you want healthy, mold-resistant paint, you should use silicate paint or lime paint. For example, from the manufacturer whose name is the same as what plants originally come from.
