Hello,

It would be really great if everyone here could just post one or a few pictures showing the current state of their house.

I'll start right away.

For renovations, it’s best to provide a comparison of before and after the remodeling.

Before March 2014:

After May 2015:

Is the floor plan for this available anywhere?

Here it is.

Ah. I like it! Will the attic be converted into living space? Or is it just being left as storage for now?
What kind of massive fridge do you have in the kitchen? Is it big enough to store whole pigs?
Oh, no bathtub. I couldn't manage that. But my husband has only used our tub once in three years. I need to take another look at the slanted windows in the photos...

The refrigerator is a standard silver Bosch tall refrigerator. (The builder included the furniture in the drawings, ours will be different, but the Bosch will be placed in the kitchen as shown.)
Above is the "basement," which will never be finished but will be used for everything others usually store in basements: suitcases, garden furniture in winter, and miscellaneous items.
Neither of us needs a bathtub. If we want to bathe, we simply go to the beach, which is only a 10-minute walk away.
This is probably a very conservative floor plan for this forum, without an open layout. However, we have always lived this way and don’t want to change it now. It is important for us to have surface areas along the walls, including wall space. We have some paintings—originals by unknown street artists that we like—as well as tall cabinets made of old oak with glass doors, an IKEA bookcase, and so on. Also, I need a workspace/office in the house that can be accessed from the hallway because occasionally people come to see me for work.

Yesterday, the temporary waterproofing on the flat roof was finally completed, after it rained inside again everywhere on Friday because the roofer simply didn’t show up for weeks... :/

The house stayed dry for the first time through last night’s rain!

The rough-in electrical work is now also finally done; on Monday, the cable bundle just needs to be pulled through the duct under the slab into the equipment room.

The underfloor heating and screed will be done before plastering, as we want the baseboards to be flush with the plaster.
This work will start on Monday, at the same time as the exterior plaster.

Since we are going away for a few days today, we will see the house with the exterior plaster for the first time at the end of next week. We’re really excited:

Construction site: exposed cable bundles and wiring in brick wall, shell structure.

Balcony under construction with wet floor, glass door, exterior brick wall and scaffolding visible.

Brush plaster is simply when the plaster is not scraped off but worked on with a brush or whisk while still in the partly dry stage.
Some practice is required.

off topic: Are you a long-serving bailiff, or which public officials receive work-related visitors at home?
