ᐅ Three years since completion – still haven’t found a ceiling light for the kitchen!

We’re probably a bit crazy. We can’t find a ceiling light that both of us like for the kitchen. But all the options out there are just terrible. We definitely don’t want those damn LEDs. So that rules out 50% of the lights right away.
Then we need a lot of light, at least 3000 lumens. We both have poor eyesight. That cuts out another 30% because these days lights don’t seem to be meant for actual illumination anymore.

That leaves only 20% that we simply don’t like or that are too expensive (over 500€). It’s so frustrating. Does anyone know a lighting store that doesn’t just sell the usual generic stuff but offers something different?

Feel free to share pictures of the lights you have, if you want. Maybe we’ll like some of those too. 🙁

Done! Ordered 2 lamps online. Completely plain and boring pieces. One for the kitchen and one for the bathroom. A total of 229 euros. It was a hard process.

We didn’t really have any problems like that at all.
Most of the lamps were moved with us, and the rest were purchased fairly quickly.
For us, the issue was more about curtains and drapes.
After all, the living room only got some recently, after three years.

Congratulations. Now you can start scraping the newspapers off the windows. 😀

It’s not that bad. Almost no one can really look inside, maybe just the neighbor’s sheep. Behind the meadow, there’s only the cemetery, but those are mostly quiet residents who don’t peek over the hedge.

Since we previously lived alone in a dark valley, we didn’t have curtains. After moving, we finally had light that we didn’t want to block with curtains.

Now the light balance is restored again 😉

We decided not to install curtains in the living area and do not feel their absence.

I would probably have an issue with that. We sometimes walk around the living room naked. It would make me uncomfortable if the neighbors could see.
