Hello everyone,
in another thread, there was a discussion about whether nowadays more people build with or without a basement. I am curious to hear your thoughts.
Best regards

I see a clear trend here (>60%) in favor of having a basement. Less than the 80% I originally estimated, but still a significant majority.
What I’m curious about: For those who built without a basement, are they happy with their decision or do they regret it later? And conversely, those who built with a basement—are they satisfied or do they feel in hindsight that it was a waste of money?I don’t think you’ll get a definitive answer. One group builds a basement out of conviction (more space for anything, even bulky waste), while the other prefers a more efficient, targeted living area and accepts more compromises for comfort. These are lifestyle choices—those who build a basement by conviction are happy to have it. Comfort lovers are glad every day not to have to go underground.
If you have both options available, you should be clear about what you prefer: more space or more comfort.
Regards, Yvonne
Asking around won’t help much, unless you want to follow the majority opinion here. The common arguments have already been discussed—you need to make the decision yourself.
In my opinion, you should only choose to build a basement if you have more reasoning than just "it has to be that way" or "I need it as a storage room." Otherwise, it can be an expensive undertaking.

Steffen8028 Jun 2017 08:35I would definitely want one, and if we were starting today, there would be one. Two or three years ago, the extra 100,000 was simply too expensive for us. Instead, we finished the attic directly (120m² (1,292 sq ft) of living space). Today, I would like to have both.. I am already thinking about where to store certain things long-term, for example, spare roof tiles, tiles, etc.

All this asking won’t help, or do you intend to go along with the majority opinion here? Then why do you both respond at the same time?ypg schrieb:

Storage rental for €30, put an old office chair there, then it’s basically a business *cough*

Why are you all replying at the same time?Because the original poster asked for these opinions and is free to decide what to do with them.
However, after more than 40 posts, I still question the purpose.
