Hello, today I had to wait for an hour and only had my notebook with me... so I just doodled a bit.
This is my very first draft of the ground floor, and it probably still has quite a few mistakes.
What Iâm curious about is whether there are any major errors here (for example, the staircase?).
North is at the bottom right.
One square represents half a meter (0.5 m / 20 inches).

What exactly is the 4.15 sqm (44.65 sq ft) area on the ground floor supposed to be? A vestibule? Personally, I would skip that since you already have a hallway. Also, the intermediate space between the garage and the house could become an area where leaves accumulate or where sunlight canât dry out moisture.
I find the living room width of 3.90 m (12.8 ft) far too narrow for such a large room.
Have you already visited a model home community?

Iâve transferred the current status into SweetHome for you (I couldnât always decipher the doodles myself anymore^^) From my perspective, this is a big step backward both for the clarity of the presentation for fellow discussants and for the planning method. Now it just shows nonsense with a flourish, but supposedly with already precise dimensions, even though the decision-making process is still ongoing.
To provide useful input, the room labels are more helpful to me than areas given to the exact square centimeter.

Furthermore, we have now thoroughly discussed the pros and cons of the staircase and the bay window, and both have been removed again. For me, something completely different would be removed, and it would be a radical removal at that. Namely this golden calf, the âgarage pass-through,â which on the one hand is very popular here, but on the other hand is a persistent little devil constantly obstructing floor plan optimizationâalready on the fundamental level of the layout of the building volumes within the building envelope.
My garage is located more than half a kilometer away from my home, and I only fail to make this walk without getting wet about ten times a year (!). Because of the delusion that I might get soaked by a rain shower within three and a half meters between the garage door and the front door, I would n.e.v.e.r feel forced to attach the two building volumes to each other and, as a side effect, ruin the nicest spot for coats and hats with a passage door.

Have you already visited any model home communities? I saw this twice over the weekend at friendsâ houses, where the front door is located between the garage and the house. It looks great. I would like that area to be covered and used as a storage space for bicycles.
Yes, we have been to Poing, to Haas and Wolf Haus. But that was some time ago, so we will definitely visit again.

Model homes are nice, but I personally find customer homes more applicable to the situations of real builders. Regardless of whether you want to build with solid construction, I would also look at the prefab house providers. Some of them offer mailing lists where you can sign up to visit completed customer homes in your area.

My garage is more than half a kilometer away from my home, and I fail to make this walk without getting wet only about ten times a year (!). Because of the delusion that I might soften from a rain shower in a 3.5-meter (11.5 feet) space between the garage door and the front door, I would n.e.v.e.r feel any obligation to stick the two buildings together and, as a side effect, ruin the best spot for coats and hats with a passage door. I just thought this image wouldnât be very helpful...
I added the dimensions at the very end to clarify the sizes.

I just thought that this picture alone wouldnât be of much help... Exactly right. But the rough sketches you make for yourself are at least as important as the complete steps that you then discuss further here.
