Hello, today I had to wait for an hour and only had my notebook with me... so I just doodled a bit.

This is my very first draft of the ground floor, and it probably still has quite a few mistakes.

What I’m curious about is whether there are any major errors here (for example, the staircase?).

North is at the bottom right.

One square represents half a meter (0.5 m / 20 inches).

What is created within a few days is usually called sketches. Designs should be somewhat more detailed.

For discussions, you should first read the pinned thread and secondly fill out the questionnaire.
Also, a site plan is missing, including a north arrow, etc.

We know nothing about you at all—what kind of house this is for, who it is for, where the street is located.

I strongly recommend that you learn the basics of architectural planning, or at least read as many floor plan discussions as possible in this forum to get a sense of what works and what doesn’t, and where you can go from here.

Best regards, Yvonne

Hi Yvonne,

The thread was originally called "just brainstorming..." and I simply wanted to identify and eliminate basic mistakes in my ideas before I develop a really concrete design.

Best regards,
Hansi

... and that was a good thing. I didn’t wait for a renaming but rather for the ideas to develop further, resulting in us seeing an upper floor as well. And you also mentioned a basement in relation to the staircase.

Yes, a site plan or something like Google Earth might help to clarify things a bit.

That fits as well… I also thought you had started a new thread and got confused.

When brainstorming, you can afford to be a bit silly sometimes.

Yes, a site plan or Google maps could shed some light on this.

Attached is a screenshot from BayernAtlas. The house and garage are planned to be located as shown in yellow. We are still somewhat flexible with the property boundaries at the top (grandmother’s house). We need to have the land surveyed and registered again anyway.

Yes, the house will have a basement. The upper floor will definitely follow. Overall, we want 2 full stories plus a basement with a hipped roof.

There should be no restrictions regarding the house so far. I will have this confirmed in writing by the local authority. I hope to visit the municipality again tomorrow or next week. Once I have the information and a clear concept for the house, I will start a new thread with the requested details from the pinned thread.

New attempt. I tried to avoid the mistakes from version 1.

The pantry is now in the northeast, the bathroom can have a window, and I included a staircase to the basement. Only the kitchen is quite far from the entrance.

What probably won’t work is the connection to the garage. Otherwise, I can’t get a sufficiently large yard because I have to move the garage so far forward.

Does anyone have an idea how I can include a pantry if I arrange the kitchen as shown in the right-hand picture, without moving the entrance all the way to the bottom?

You are basically planning a rectangular house oriented north-south?
