House 110 sqm (1184 sq ft), bungalow. So, one level. Drywall ceiling, plastered walls; in the bathrooms lime-cement plaster, elsewhere gypsum plaster with lime content. Painting work includes filling, sanding, painter’s fleece, primer, and lightly tinted or white emulsion paint. In the bathrooms, fiberglass mesh over tiles on the walls, painted white with latex paint. Eaves painted with brackets. Quote 3800 gross. Is this ok?
I do not consider five suppliers for a trade to be too many at all. Especially not if you are uncertain and want to be more careful with your money. And why should I care about how much effort a supplier puts into preparing an offer? That is the wrong argument from the consumer’s perspective.
The more I think about it... the wage is 42 gross. With materials added, it should work out. He is supposed to start by filling, sanding, possibly filling again, sanding once more, applying primer, fleece, paint, in the bathroom fiberglass, and latex on top. It is probably quite affordable. I know he is very precise. I am familiar with other projects he has done. Karsten
If the services you’re referring to are clearly listed in writing in the quote, then everything seems to be in order.
If you still have doubts, get a second or even additional quotes; no one is forcing you to accept them. The main goal is for you to feel confident and at ease again.

My point was about whether it makes sense to invest time when the possible savings for the amounts mentioned here are not proportional to the time spent...
Now, when an offer is already $200 cheaper, it can really mean a lot to some people. This always depends on one’s personal attitude toward money and free time.
Some people spend what feels like their whole lives wondering if they could have saved money elsewhere. But if you have a good overview of the market because you’ve seen several offers, your mind can assess the situation better, and you worry less or not at all. For those people (I count myself partly among them), this is time very well spent.
That’s why I wrote earlier:
PS: A positive side effect of this approach can be realizing whether an offer is particularly expensive (not necessarily the one discussed here, but in general).
