Hello everyone,
Our architect included a carport with a storage room in our house plans right from the start. The building permit / planning permission was submitted and approved. The house is now built, but the carport manufacturer we initially chose no longer produces this type of carport. How much can I deviate from the approved plans without causing any issues? The original plan was for a carport measuring 6.5m x 9m (21 ft 4 in x 29 ft 6 in) with an integrated storage room of 3m x 6m (9 ft 10 in x 19 ft 8 in) and a flat roof. The carport is located 1m (3 ft 3 in) away from the neighbor’s property line.
Location: Lower Saxony, Hannover region.
Thank you for your help

How far can I deviate from the building application without encountering problems? Without an amendment to the building application, not at all—unless the changes are considered exempt from the approval process. In my assessment,

Instead of 6.50 meters maybe 6.80 meters an amendment would be necessary. For

The slight slant (like a wallmart-style) should now be straight down. this would likely not be the case. As Payday correctly mentioned, the first option would only be approvable if the extension is directed toward the main house or if the entire carport is moved to the property boundary.
You can reduce the width of the carport from 6.8 m (22.3 ft) to 6.5 m (21.3 ft) by simply shortening the cross beam by 30 cm (12 inches).
A supplementary submission to the building authority is usually not a big issue.
Normally, required parking spaces and their canopies are exempt from formal procedures. Your architect can explain this to you, or you can take a look at the building regulations and zoning plan, or call the case officer at the authority.
In our case, a carport is also shown in the application, but without exact dimensions, length, or position. Here it is exempt from formal procedures, just so they roughly know where the structure will go.
What do you plan to do with the 1 meter (3.3 ft) setback from the boundary? A hedge? That seems too wide and also not very practical. The best approach would be to discuss this with your neighbors.

The meter is for the future. At some point, I will have to paint the carport and this way I won’t need to ask the neighbors.
That’s nonsense. You have a "right of access for maintenance" to paint your carport from the neighbor’s property. Of course, their property must not be damaged or destroyed in the process.
If they plant a hedge there, you can still reasonably reach it for repainting or similar tasks. If they build a carport, the wall won’t be visible anyway.
