ᐅ Which rimless toilet should I choose? Subway 2.0 or Icon Rimfree?

Since we are officially allowed to discuss products here, I’m curious to know which toilet you prefer? Of course, other brands are welcome too, but we definitely want a toilet with either an open rim or rimless design. There are still models from Duravit (DuraStyle) or Laufen (Pro), but we don’t like their appearance, purely subjective. The Keramag Renova Rimfree also doesn’t suit our taste visually. I’m not sure if there are other brand-name products that are either rimless or have an open rim.
The Subway 2.0 and the Keramag Icon Rimfree look quite similar and both appeal to us. After favoring the Subway 2.0 for a long time, we are now leaning more towards the Keramag Icon Rimfree. The reason is that it is truly rimless, while the Subway 2.0 has an open rim.
What did you buy and why? Which of the two do you think is better and why?

We were originally planning to choose the Subway 2.0 (open rim) toilet from Villeroy & Boch. However, after reading very negative reviews on a major online retailer, I’m now uncertain about what to buy. As an alternative, the bathroom store also offered the Keramag Icon without a rim, but I have already seen some negative feedback on that model as well. Basically, we just want a toilet that works reliably. Does anyone have experience with the Subway 2.0 with an open rim and can share their thoughts?
The coating on the toilets is a similar issue... some people say it’s very good, while others claim they can’t notice any difference compared to uncoated ceramic.
Best regards,
Sabine

There are also plenty of standard toilets where water splashes out. It’s probably a matter of the right pressure!? And recently, you’re supposed to always keep the toilet lid closed when flushing anyway? Otherwise, toxic gases can spread (according to Focus Online, so not really a reliable source ).
Two years ago, we faced the same decision and chose the Xeno2 toilet from Karmag with an open rim for the bathroom and guest toilet, and we haven’t regretted it since. We haven’t noticed any splashing from the toilet, at least not that we can tell. We also don’t flush with the lid closed.
We have the toilet without the special coating. For me, using the toilet brush is simply part of the routine, regardless of whether the toilet leaves streaks or not—that only takes about 5 seconds, and I don’t even think about it. So, the coating really doesn’t matter to me.
The only tricky part was installing the toilet because of the concealed wall mounting, but you don’t screw a toilet to the wall every day.
Cleaning the toilet is brilliant thanks to the open rim design, and I wouldn’t want any other.

Baumhaus.Bau24 Apr 2017 09:44As mentioned at the beginning, we have the Subway 2.0 in the main bathroom and the Subway 2.0 compact in the guest bathroom.
We moved in just under 2 months ago and have been using the toilets regularly.
So far, I have not experienced any splashing or overflowing anywhere.
We would definitely recommend them.
