As far as I know, no reputable contractor would start a construction project before winter unless they can guarantee that the building shell will be fully enclosed before adverse weather conditions begin. It should also be noted that almost all tradespeople take a break over the Christmas period—having only a half-finished shell is understandably not an ideal situation. Therefore, I don’t see any reason why additional costs should occur for you.
Regarding the issue with the “tent,” I cannot comment as I am not familiar with the “fine print” 😉
