Hello everyone,

I’m currently a bit confused about the purposes of different hinges. I already know that 153° hinges are needed for internal drawers. But when do you need 95°, 125°, or 45° hinges? And what are the advantages and disadvantages of each?

If someone is familiar with this, I would appreciate a brief explanation.

What do you understand by internal pull-outs? The hinges are intended for the doors and simply indicate how far a door can open. The 90° option, for example, prevents the door from hitting a wall if the cabinet is mounted directly next to one.

Well, if internal pull-outs are installed behind a door, then 153° hinges are required – according to this thread:

But what exactly is a 45-degree hinge used for?!

95° for refrigerators and freezers with a stay-open hinge mechanism.
45° for corner wall cabinets. The image of the hinges on the website is incorrect.
125° for most applications.
153° when the door needs to open very wide or for internal pull-outs, as the hinge also ensures the door opens without obstruction.

Thanks, Ikea expert!

That was exactly what I wanted to know, clear and to the point.

I have a few questions regarding this:
- Do I need to arrange the hinges myself when purchasing, or is, for example, a 95-degree hinge automatically included with a tall cabinet for a refrigerator?
- Should the IKEA staff also automatically provide 95-degree hinges where a cabinet is positioned against a wall?
- Are dampers available for all hinges? I recall that with Faktum, there were no dampers for the 153-degree hinges.
- Regarding dampers, I remember a previous Faktum thread where it was recommended to buy a combined hinge with a built-in damper (such as Blumotion) from Blum rather than buying hinge clip-on dampers from IKEA. Is this still the case with Metod?
