Hello everyone,

We are currently looking for the right facing brick for our project. Unfortunately, the bricks we liked and have seen used are no longer available from the manufacturers. So far, we haven’t found any similar alternatives, and we would appreciate any tips that could lead us to comparable facing bricks.

We are searching for a brick like the one used in the Viebrockhaus model home Edition 425 WOHNIDEE-Haus, two-story (can be found on Google).

So, if anyone has any suggestions, please feel free to share them.

Best regards,

I took a look and came across a Klinker hand-molded facing brick K666 in an online shop. Unfortunately, I couldn’t find out which brand it is. Could this one possibly be suitable?

What does the manufacturer do with customers who want the house exactly as shown on the website?

The house is even displayed as a real model home in the showcase village. And anyone who wants that house can build it – just using a different brick. Unfortunately, the house cannot be built as it appears there anymore <- statement from the consultant

If it’s only about certain sections (like accents instead of full coverage), maybe dealers still have some leftover stock.

For the previously known and interesting bricks, even our building materials supplier couldn’t get any remaining stock. Our own research also didn’t bring better results.

Ytong Silka produces a sand-lime brick used as exterior cladding, in white light grey. Is that something like what you are looking for?

Hmm… I’m somehow not able to find that. The cladding bricks, yes, but not in the specified color.

Yes, we’ve found that one as well. It matches our taste 100%. Unfortunately, it’s only available in the WDF format and therefore comes with a high additional cost.
We’ve requested a concrete quote from the main contractor, but initial estimates are around 5000€ and it’s not worth it to us. But hope dies last.

How are you building your house, specifically what exterior wall material is used structurally?

If the appearance is the main concern, facing bricks could be an option, or does it have to be a brick veneer (due to the cavity wall with air gap)?

My question remains: where is the issue exactly? Is it that alternative materials don’t match in color and/or texture? You don’t want thermal insulation composite systems for cost reasons? – I wouldn’t choose them for practical reasons. What size should the dream stone have?

We are building a cavity wall:
- Interior wall 15cm (6 inches) aerated concrete
- followed by 16cm (6.3 inches) thermal insulation
- then a 2cm (0.8 inches) air gap
- and finally facing brickwork in NF format

My question is still open, where exactly is the problem, meaning whether alternatives don’t match in color and/or texture.

The problem is the color design. The bricks we found are mostly just white or yellowish and therefore too uniform in appearance. We want a calm but varied facade like the already mentioned K666 clinker brick or the show house.

As mentioned above, the format is NF. What, in your opinion, speaks against WDF bricks? For us, so far, it is only the additional cost, which is clearly too high.

Regarding Silka facing bricks, they are not called light grey; I refer to them that way because in reality they are not white but rather somewhat gray. You should see the materials in person. Any building materials supplier should have a sample available.

Ah, I see, that’s why I looked in the wrong place and didn’t find anything.
I’ll ask our building materials supplier on Saturday if they have one in stock. Thanks for the tip.
