Hello everyone,

Are there any recommendations on whether and which types of wood can be mixed inside a house? What combinations work visually together and which definitely don’t? Or is it entirely a matter of personal taste? We are considering using a solid laminated wood ceiling (softwood, exact type currently unknown). So far, an oak floor (wood color) is planned for the living area. The staircase is made of beech wood, and the hallway will probably be tiled. Are there any no-go’s when mixing wood types, or does it also depend on whether the woods are stained or treated in some way?

Thank you very much

In the neighboring thread, I saw that you have made your decision @World-e It would be nice if you could conclude your questions with your decision, so that those who answered can see whether their response was helpful or not.

We have now made our decision and will choose a solid wood ceiling with visible quality despite some drawbacks. It is intended to remain light in color, so it will be treated with UV protection. Whether white pigments will be added remains to be seen. This might only be done in one room first to observe the effect. It is also quite possible that the ceiling will turn out fairly white, while still showing the wood grain. We will see.

The additional cost is about 2200€ (approximately $2,400) compared to a concealed dowel wood ceiling. However, this saves the effort of installing a dropped ceiling, cladding, and the subsequent filling, sanding, wallpapering, or plastering.

Hello,
we have also been offered a wooden ceiling made of spruce.
We are also considering whether this would match wooden floors.
Could someone who has this please share a photo?
Thank you very much

Recently, I saw something like this in a prefab house exhibition. Just try searching for "talbau günzburg." There is also a picture there showing a solid spruce ceiling and oak parquet flooring.

It’s not my style, but I do like the house.

Do you mean there is too much wood for your taste, or is there something else you don’t like?
