Christa_7418 Feb 2017 19:06Hello everyone,
in our newly built house, we have a concrete staircase with glued parquet flooring on top. The edge of the staircase or step follows the shape of the stairs. Adjacent to this, the parquet is installed as a floating floor.
The carpenter has resolved this with a transition strip, which not only looks unattractive but also has sharp edges at the ends, making it dangerous (see photo). Is this correct?
Are there any other possible solutions?
Thank you very much for your help!

Christa_7418 Feb 2017 19:44In 20 years, we might want to remove the parquet flooring again. If we had known that a U-shaped rail would extend into the room, we would have had it glued down. This was simply never communicated.

What kind of parquet flooring do you have there? It looks nice.
The baseboard is really awful though ... something needs to be done about it. Thanks , we think so too!
It’s Kährs parquet, Oak Jersey.

I think the option to glue it down can still be done later.
And honestly, that would also mean you have to remove all the wood from the entire staircase.
I’d talk to the parquet installer again about it.
