Good evening, dear forum community.

We are currently in the factory planning phase, and the topic of ceiling light outlets is currently relevant. I have received information that for ceiling lamp outlets, a so-called ceiling light connection box is now standard practice (e.g., Kaiser 1248-55 or U 71 DAD).
The construction company denies this, stating that such boxes require an extra charge.

So, simply put: what is the current industry standard or the generally accepted rule of building practice? Is there even a relevant DIN standard?

Thank you very much and best regards

We built in 2016 and did not have a connection box. A conduit with cable came out of the ceiling.

Therefore, unless it is explicitly mentioned in the building contract, you will not get something like this.

We have exposed cables coming out of the ceiling. The electrician connected/laid them on the precast concrete slab before pouring the cast-in-place concrete.

Yuck, exposed cables! ;-)

Thanks for the info!

No, they have insulation so they don’t freeze, which is absolutely proper handling. And even a sheath, in case ladies or children are watching. No need to worry.

If you want to recess ceiling spotlights directly into the ceiling, you need to install or have installed some kind of mounting boxes embedded in the ceiling.

For traditional hanging lamps, usually only cables hang down from the ceiling. To attach the lamp, you then drill into the concrete ceiling later on.

If you are against drilling, the boxes you mentioned might be a useful option, provided they can already support the required load for hanging lamps.

Based on user reports, the installation of these boxes for ceiling spotlights, including materials, costs about 50-80€ each.
