Hello everyone,
We are currently implementing the changes to our floor plan through the planning office. Attached you will find the layout of our main bathroom. What do you think—would it be possible to move the bathtub a bit further under the sloped ceiling towards the bottom of the plan? At the moment, it is placed centrally under the 2m (6 ft 7 in) line, and a lot of space is wasted (which will simply be closed off by drywall). I find this quite unfortunate since the bathtub is mostly used only by the children or very rarely in general. Its importance is therefore so low that I am not willing to give up more space for it than absolutely necessary.
The house is 150 sqm (1,615 sqft), and there is another bathroom on the ground floor with a walk-in barrier-free shower.
Maybe there are some experiences you can share—how is your bathtub positioned, and what have your experiences been?
Thanks in advance for your help!

In our case, the distance and therefore the "wasted space" between the bathtub and the knee wall would be about one meter (3 ft 3 in). I find that quite a lot.

We placed the bathtub directly under the sloping roof (with a knee wall height of just under 1.1 m (3.6 ft)), but positioned it on the unfinished floor (properly sealed, of course). This way, the bathtub sits lower, providing more headroom under the slope. Additionally, we have a large roof window above the bathtub, which also adds to the headroom.
We find this solution practical and comfortable, and it hasn’t caused any issues for us.

hemali200320 Jan 2017 23:27OK, thanks. Do you think I could risk moving the bathtub 30cm (12 inches) closer to the knee wall?
