ᐅ Fall protection for open spaces using safety nets (catamaran system)

Hello!

We have an open space of about 12 square meters (130 square feet) in the house and would like to combine comfort with functionality by installing a net similar to those used on catamarans (see picture). However, one of the long sides borders the conservatory, so the net cannot be attached there. We are considering a metal frame to which the net would be fastened, with the frame only screwed into the remaining opening area (timber frame construction).

Has anyone already done something like this? One company gave us only a standard response regarding mounting, and we are still waiting for a reply from another company. Any tips or advice would be greatly appreciated!

Thank you and best regards

Faydie

I also think the power supply is cool, but I would be worried that it might not hold up under my weight.

I have now received a response from the manufacturer stating that it can withstand 200 kg/m² (41 lbs/ft²) – I don’t think you weigh more than 2400 kg (5300 lbs) @tomtom79
Yes, I understand the need to rethink things. But we have carefully considered everything around this.

The weak point will definitely be the edge, where the mesh is attached.

Yes, that’s why I’m asking here.
Who is an expert in this field or can share personal experience on how to securely fasten these nets under our specific conditions?
Background: these are fall arrest nets/safety nets like those used in construction or in kindergartens. There are standards such as DIN norms for the fastening.

Is this really the ideal fall protection, especially for children under 6 years old? Looking at the edge and the mesh size, I have my doubts. Have you considered this?

This is a sample image from the internet. This is what our IDEA looks like. There are different mesh sizes. These nets are, mind you, installed in kindergartens, and of course, we would choose the smallest possible mesh size.
We did not come up with this idea on a whim.
